Norwich Book Festival

Norwich Book Festival is a new event presented by The Forum. It brings nationally renowned authors to England’s first UNESCO City of Literature with readings, talks and events for every kind of reader.

We crafted a new visual identity for the Festival that contributes to the city’s thriving culture of reading and writing, creating a celebration of stories—for the City of Stories.

The word mark logo resonates with Norwich’s literary and printing heritage. Set in black and left-aligned, the type is reminiscent of the letterpress era. At its heart is a book icon that opens and invites you to be part of the festival’s story.

Book covers and spines create a playful confetti pattern that brings together reading and celebration, sparking excitement when animated.

The Forum’s mantra, ‘Here for everyone’, is echoed throughout the identity with an accessibility-first approach to typography and colour. Blue is taken from The Forum’s core brand and combined with a vibrant green, reminiscent of the building’s most prominent resident, the Norfolk & Norwich Millennium Library, to produce a palette that is bold and recognisable.

“Working with Ark to create the Norwich Book Festival identity, language, and brand assets was an absolute pleasure. Their professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail meant that we had a fantastic, flexible, and eye-catching brand, which has helped us establish our new festival in the hearts and minds of the city. It’s been wonderful rolling out the assets, and seeing the brand come to life, across digital, print, and outdoor. I’m very grateful to all the team for their support, especially this was an exceptionally tight timeline from brief to delivery!”
